Sven B. Schreiber (sbs) This is a fascinating album. Like its follow-up, "Cruel Symmetry", it doesn't sound "German" at all, which is probably due to the fact that both Thomas Klarmann and Robert Gozon - the band's main songwriters - are not quite interested in German prog and kraut. Besides the usual "Canterbury" traits presumably originating from Thomas Klarmann, who highly appreciates the vocal styles of Robert Wyatt and Richard Sinclair, as well as the keyboard contributions by Dave Stewart, some tracks show a clear affinity to Peter Hammill, who is among Robert Gozon's favorites. I'm usually turned off by too authentic imitations of time-honored vocalists, but in this case it's OK because it's neither Peter Gabriel nor Jon Anderson this time. Favorite track: Custody Of The Knave.
